Classes I Have Taught
I am not the most knowledgeable person in the SCA, by a long shot. At Great North Eastern War, I had the opportunity to watch a beautiful lady get her Laurel. She had grown, harvested, prepared, carded, spun, woven, cut and sewn, and then worn the flax dress she had on. It was... awe inspiring.
My skills are more modest, and yet I also enjoy sharing them. Sometimes, I think the Laurels and other Peers can seem a bit distant, as if those of us with less lofty titles will never reach their greatness. It's not so, though, and we all start somewhere. And so I teach, knowing that as I do so I am learning more myself.
My interests lie in cooking, writing, heraldry, and bardic performances (in particular, story telling). As a fairly new person to all of these, at least from an SCA perspective, I feel that helping others to learn as well is of great importance. It's wonderful to share new and exciting things that I, myself, am learning on a daily basis.
My first class was a hobbled together affair at Harper's Retreat 2015, where I had a short and tiny class on baking bread. This year (2016) at Baronial Birthday, I will be teaching both bread baking and public speaking. My class notes can be found below.
